Does the HCO compromise on animal welfare prior to and during Halal slaughter?

Our trained inspectors and qualified auditors complete their due diligence at every slaughterhouse with a zero tolerance approach on animal welfare in accordance with the teaching of Islam and the laws of the land.

What does Halal mean to the HCO?

HCO believes and aims to recognize “Halal” as a brand in the community as a Healthy & Hygienic food on consistent basis.

What is Halal?

It is arabic word which has elementary means “permissible or allowed” according to The holy book Quran and the teaching of the the Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) for muslims. The haram ( forbidden) is opposite to halal which means not allowed to eat and use according to Islamic dietary laws.

Does the HCO believes in training?

The HCO is run by technically qualified professionals in their respective fields who are having a mission of providing training and education at every level within the industry and community because there is always a scope of learning and improvement. We deliver our training through the ‘Centre of Excellence in Halal Compliance and Training’ (CEHCT) a wholly owned educational subsidy of the HCO.

Does the HCO provide certification and training services all over the world?

Yes, we arrange training sessions and halal certification services all the world. HCO is also in the process of affiliation with other halal certification bodies globally.

How different is the HCO from other Halal Certification Bodies?

Well-trained professionals who have relevant experience in their respective areas of expertise including meat scientists, pharmacists, medical doctors etc run the HCO. We pledge to vet any certified Halal product to the highest standard to provide peace of mind to the Halal consumer

Does the HCO recognise other Halal Certification Bodies?

Due to the high standard of our operations, the HCO carefully scrutinises HCBs to ensure that only the genuine one are recognised by us. We currently have mutual recognition with selected HCBs within the EU and far afield.

Does the HCO certify food-processing sites that handle pork?

No. The HCO has a pork exclusion policy where no pork must be handled in any HCO Halal certified site.

Does the HCO audit its certificated premises?

The HCO conducts risk assessment on each site and depending on the level of risk, sites can be audited once, twice or more times per annum. We also endeavour to supervision halal slaughtering at abattoirs.
